SoftPro steps into call centre business

Venkat Pulapaka / Hyderabad

SoftPro Systems, a software services and solutions provider based in Hyderabad, has acquired a 26 percent equity stake, amounting to Rs 2 crore, in Call World Technologies, an ITES company running a 50-seat call centre and rendering services to companies like AT&T and Master Card.

SoftPro has built a state-of-the-art 90,000-square feet office facility, SoftPro Heights, in Hyderabad to provide software development, call centre and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services to customers worldwide. Call World Technologies, one of the successful call centres, will be moving into this facility by mid-October this year.

SoftPro is simultaneously making initiatives into the XML area to play a role in the emerging Web services segment.

This ISO 9001 company is currently developing reusable frameworks in XML for data transformation used in Enterprise Application Integration (EAI). According to the company, this framework has the potential to develop like a Web service in future. At present, the framework is in the beta stage and is scheduled for release in a month’s time.

Chand Akkineni, president and CEO of SoftPro and World Online, said the company is currently building a product called AssetPro, an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system to cover general assets, as well as IT asset management aimed at medium and large organisations. SoftPro is engaged with five beta customers in verticals ranging from healthcare, manufacturing, IT services and pharmaceuticals.

As part of its offshore initiative, SoftPro has three projects in hand and three more projects worth $100,000 in the pipeline. One of the projects involves development of security-related software covering operating systems, multiple appservers and network protocols, Akkineni said. SoftPro is also focusing on end-to-end business solutions for the mid-market segment in the APAC region.
