Network Solutions (NetSol), a system integrator offering network
consultancy and SI is setting up the network infrastructure
for IT.com 2002 for the fifth time. The company is using active
components such as switches, routers, LAN Ethernet cards sponsored
by Cisco, while the passive components such as optic fibre
cables, CAT 5 cables, I/Os and connectors are being supplied
by Tyco Electronics.
The Internet gateway for the IT.com event is provided by Software
Technology Parks of India (STPI). It has set up an earth station
at Palace Grounds that will have two gateways. In addition
there will be a back-up VSAT link from STPI. The output from
these antennas will be connected to a Cisco 2699 series central
router.
Nagesh Ramdas, project manager at NetSol says, For the
campus network we are laying a kilometre of fibre cables with
three junctions where the CAT 5 cables will be connecting
all the pavilions. About 500 kilometres of CAT 5 cable have
been laid to connect the pavilions. We are providing connections
to 800 nodes.
Tyco and Cisco are sponsoring passive components and active
components worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 75 lakh respectively. NetSol
is spending Rs 2.5 lakh for setting up the networking.
