Information Technology (SITL), a 100 percent, fully-owned
subsidiary of Sonata Software, is targeting the SME segment
with some of its specific enterprise-wide solutions. This
subsidiary is exclusively focusing on the domestic market.
There are two primary areas of business for SITLone
is products and the other is the consulting and services business.
The companys services business is further divided into
two segmentspackage implementations and enterprise solutions
(business solutions group). The IT consulting division of
the company focuses on providing e-commerce solutions, collaborative
solutions, and portals. IT consulting arm of the company primarily
focuses on 35-40 large corporates.
On the other hand, the Business Solutions Group (BSG) is focused
on providing specific enterprise-wide solutions to the SME
segment, which includes applications like ERP, CRM, etc. SME
is a very key area for us. We believe the SME segment is a
sleeping giant and this is one segment, which has tremendous
growth potential, said Premnath Murthy, group manager
of Sonata Software.
The company is targeting second-generation entrepreneurs,
especially those who are taking over from the older generation.
These second generation entrepreneurs want to re-energise
their business. And we as a company have the experience and
understanding to cater their needs, said Murthy. SITL
as a company has a significant amount of experience150
man-years of experience, 55 clients, 100 live sites plus diverse
domains. And if the company manages to translate this experience
across industries into standardised processes, then the company
could establish itself as a leader in the SME segment. With
its low cost and high functionality solutions, the company
is geared up to meet the expectations of SME companies and
to establish itself as one of the industry leaders in this
segment. As far as our BSG and packaged implementation
services business is concerned we are expecting the SME segment
to fetch a very significant amount of business, commented
Murthy.
The company has technology partnerships with most leading
vendors. Today, the company has around 24 technology partners,
and the list includes names like Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Sun
Microsystems and Computer Associates, among others.

is expecting to grow at the industry growth rate, and that
the SME segment is going to play an vital role in achieving
