Business Objects launches advanced BI tool

Chitra Padmanabhan / Mumbai

Business Objects, has launched Data Integrator, based on extract, transform and load (ETL) technology. ETL refers to three separate functions combined into a single programming tool. “A key component of Data Integrator is the real-time and batch ETL tool that simplifies and speeds data sharing across the enterprise,” said Sridhar Gantimahapatruni, director BI Development, Business Objects.

Business Objects had acquired Acta Technologies, a player that specialises in ETL technology. This acquisition provided Business Objects with a comprehensive enterprise analytic platform (EAP) for the delivery of custom-developed and pre-packaged analytic applications.

Data Integrator is seen as the synergistic effort of both companies. Key members of the Acta engineering, sales, service, and marketing teams joined Business Objects and currently, Acta functions as the data integration division of the company.
